Evri has announced a major change for UK charity shops by launching a new service that allows customers to donate pre-loved items via its network of 12,500 ParcelShops and lockers. The initiative, in partnership with disability equality charity Scope, aims to make donating easier and more accessible.
Free Donation-by-Post Service
Shoppers can now send unwanted belongings directly to Scope free of charge by dropping them off at Evri ParcelShops, located in Post Office branches, Asda stores, and new Evri lockers across the UK. The service eliminates the need to visit a charity shop in person, offering a convenient alternative for donors.
According to research cited by Evri, 46% of people are more likely to donate to charity if they can use parcel lockers. Jonathan Bennett, Director of Marketing at Evri Group, said: "Charity shops are an important part of our high streets and communities, but like all retailers they need new ways to attract stock and engage supporters. Through our partnership with Scope we're making donating easier than ever, whether that's through free drop-offs at more than 12,500 locations nationwide or the UK's first charity shop parcel locker."
Support for Disabled People
Debbie Boylen, Head of Retail at Scope, highlighted the impact of the partnership: "This is an incredibly exciting opportunity for Scope. Evri has been so generous with their fundraising and these new developments are set to help us raise even more funds. The impact of this will be so far-reaching. Every pound we raise can help fund a minute’s call on our free helpline with the average call lasting 15 minutes. Disabled people can receive expert guidance and advice, so your quality donations are vital."
Boylen added that disabled people face additional costs of £1,095 each month on average to have the same standard of living as non-disabled households. The donation service provides a simple way for people to support Scope's work without spending money.
First Parcel Locker Inside a Charity Shop
In a further innovation, Evri will install what is believed to be the UK's first parcel locker inside a charity shop, located at Scope's Doncaster store. This is designed to increase footfall and create additional reasons for shoppers to visit charity shops.
How to Donate
To donate, customers visit Evri.com/Scope to create a free parcel label, package items following Evri's guidance, print the label, and drop off the parcel at a ParcelShop or locker. Items are then processed and distributed into Scope's retail network to raise funds for the charity.
