Chick-fil-A is set to open a drive-thru restaurant in Glasgow, marking its first location in Scotland and the fifth in the UK. The new site will take over a former KFC outlet and will seat between 66 and 68 diners, with a drive-thru for customer convenience.
UK expansion plans
The Glasgow opening is part of Chick-fil-A's plan to invest nearly £75 million in the UK over the next 10 years. The chain currently operates two sites in Northern Ireland and branches in Leeds and London. Like its other UK branches, the Glasgow restaurant will be open six days a week, closing on Sundays in line with the Christian values of its late founder, Truett Cathy.
Growing US brand presence in UK
Chick-fil-A is not the only US brand expanding in the UK. Family entertainment and dining centre Chuck E Cheese plans to launch six branches across England and Scotland, while Chick-fil-A rival Raising Canes is preparing to open its first UK branch in London later this year.
