B&M has introduced a new gadget that lets shoppers warm their homes without switching on central heating. The discount retailer, which operates more than 700 stores across the UK and Ireland, markets the product as a “cost-effective” way to fend off the autumn and winter chill.
Heater Priced at £29 with Low Running Costs
The Blaupunkt Convector Heater is available in every B&M store while stocks last, priced at £29 for in-store collection only. It features three heat settings (800W, 1200W and 2000W), an adjustable thermostat, and overheat cut-out protection, and is suitable for spaces up to 20 cubic metres. The device measures 53.2 x 17 x 37.5cm and has a sleek black design.
At its lowest setting of 800W, the heater costs roughly 21p per hour to run continuously in the UK under the current price cap. B&M advises against leaving it on indefinitely, noting the built-in protection to prevent overheating.
Context of Rising Energy Costs
The launch follows the Ofgem price cap increase introduced in early October. An average household paying by Direct Debit has seen its annual energy bill rise by £60, from £1,663 to £1,723. With colder temperatures approaching, the retailer positions the heater as a way to manage these additional costs.

Additional Home Heating Product
B&M is also selling the Addis Heated Fold-Out Clothes Airer for £40. Its product description reads: “Say goodbye to damp laundry hanging around for days.
