Shoppers can now warm their homes without switching on central heating thanks to a new gadget at B&M. The discount retailer, which operates more than 700 stores across the UK, describes the Blaupunkt Convector Heater as a "cost-effective" solution to keep the autumn and winter cold at bay.
Rising energy costs
The product arrives after the Ofgem price cap increase introduced in early October. An average household paying by Direct Debit has seen its annual energy bill rise by £60, from £1,663 to £1,723.
With these additional costs piling further pressure onto already stretched finances amid the ongoing cost of living crisis, and colder temperatures fast approaching, every penny matters.
Product details and price
The Blaupunkt Convector Heater is currently available in all B&M stores while stocks last. Shoppers can pick one up for £29 via in-store collection only.
At first glance, it boasts a sleek black finish that would sit comfortably in any room throughout the home. It features three separate heat settings, along with an adjustable thermostat, and measures a generously sized 53.2 x 17 x 37.5cm.
Describing the product, B&M said: "Heat your home with the Blaupunkt Convector Heater. The cost effective, quick and easy solution for a cosy home this winter. Save money on your energy bills with an electric heater from B&M Stores."
Running costs and safety
At its lowest setting, the heater runs at just 800W, meaning it will cost approximately 21p per hour to operate continuously under the current UK price cap. For safety reasons, however, it should never be left running indefinitely, with built-in protection designed to prevent overheating.
Those keen to find out more can head to the B&M website, where they can also browse similar products currently on sale, along with the full catalogue.
B&M is also stocking the Addis Heated Fold-Out Clothes Airer for £40. "Say goodbye to damp laundry hanging around for days," reads the product description. "The Addis Heated Fold Out Airer uses gentle warmth to speed up drying time - great for those days when the weather just won't play ball. It folds out quickly when you need it and folds flat again for easy storage. The fold-out wings give you plenty of rail space for a full load, and the heated bars get to work straight away plugged in."
