Manchester United have completed the signing of Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Carlos Baleba on a five-year contract, making him their third midfield addition of the summer transfer window. The deal is worth £65 million, with a further £5 million in potential add-ons.
Left-back search intensifies
United are now focusing on signing a left-back before the 11pm transfer deadline. The club has shown interest in Barcelona's Alejandro Balde, whom Spanish sources value at around £30 million. However, United sources have played down the likelihood of a deal, as Barcelona are not willing to loan out the Spain international.
Lewis Hall remains a future target
Newcastle United's Lewis Hall is admired as a long-term successor to Luke Shaw, but a move this summer was always considered unlikely due to other priorities and Newcastle's sales of Anthony Gordon, Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali. There is an expectation that United will renew their interest next summer, when they plan to invest significantly in their defence.
