Skipton Building Society has launched two new savings accounts paying 4.81% interest. The 19 Month Fixed Rate Cash ISA and 19 Month Fixed Rate Bond mean savers can lock in a guaranteed return for 19 months.
If you pay in £1,000, you would earn an estimated £77 over the account term. Accounts are available to new and existing customers and can be opened online, through the Skipton app, in branch, by post, or by phone.
Tax-free ISA and bond options
The 19 Month Fixed Rate Cash ISA pays out tax-free interest, meaning you keep 100% of your money without giving it to HMRC, up to a limit. For the 2026/27 tax year, you can deposit up to £20,000 total across your Cash ISAs.
Customers can deposit anything from £1 to £1million, though you cannot withdraw any money, and a 90-day interest penalty applies if you close the account early, so you must be comfortable with parting with your cash for a prolonged period of time.
If you opt to receive payments annually, you will earn 4.81% interest, while monthly payments are 4.71%. The 19 Month Fixed Rate Bond also pays a fixed rate of either 4.81% annually or 4.71% monthly. However, these earnings are not tax-free.
No partial withdrawals or early closures
No partial withdrawals or early closures are permitted on the bond, and you can pay in a minimum balance of £1 up to £1million.
Alex Sitaras, head of savings and partnership products at Skipton Building Society, said: "Many savers are looking for certainty as rates continue to shift, and our new 19 Month Fixed Rate Cash ISA and Bond give customers the opportunity to lock in a competitive return for longer."
They added: "Whether you're making the most of this year's ISA allowance, building a savings buffer or working towards a future goal, fixing your rate can provide the confidence of knowing exactly what your savings will earn over the term."
How do other accounts compare?
Skipton Building Society is currently paying the highest interest rate for an account in this range, though other accounts stick to the standard 18-month term.
TSB is paying 4.70% on its 18-month Fixed Rate Cash ISA. You can open this account with £1. Cambridge Building Society is paying 4.60% on its 18 Month Fixed Rate ISA (Issue 220). The minimum opening amount is slightly higher at £500.
