Royal Mail will cut the time customers have to collect parcels from Post Office branches and Parcelshops from 18 days to 10 days, starting October 25. The change applies to parcels selected for collection at checkout and those redirected after failed home deliveries, while items at Customer Service Points will still be held for the full 18 days.
Where the change applies
Royal Mail operates more than 24,000 drop-off and collection points across the UK, including convenience stores, Post Office branches and parcel lockers. The reduced collection window will affect parcels at these locations, but Customer Service Points will remain unchanged.
Delivery schedule reforms
As part of broader postal reforms, second-class letters will now be delivered on alternate days only. First-class deliveries will continue six days a week from Monday to Saturday. The postal operator expects the new delivery schedules to be fully rolled out across all of its 1,200 delivery units by the end of the year.
Performance targets revised
Performance targets are also being revised, with first-class delivery targets dropping from 93% to 90% for next-day delivery.
