Keithhall Church, a historic Category B-listed building in Aberdeenshire, has been listed for sale at £80,000 through Galbraith, offering the chance to create a three-bedroom family home.
Historic Building and Location
Constructed in 1722, the church sits on the outskirts of Inverurie and forms part of a small cluster of buildings that also includes Keithhall School, the Old Schoolhouse, and the Schoolhouse. The granite structure features a rectangular shape and a pitched slate roof, with the main entrance on the west gable end facing the roadway. A granite bellcote sits at the head of the gable on the west elevation, alongside a small single-storey pitched roof extension finished with part-brick facework.
Conversion Plans and Interior Features
Keithhall Church has not been used for religious purposes since 2017, and a proposal to convert it into a residential house was granted in February 2024. Although a change of use has been requested for residential purposes, the church could also be used as commercial, retail, or recreational space.
The property begins with an entrance vestibule with stairs to a mezzanine floor, with two further rooms created on either side of the corridor. The main church hall benefits from natural light, while original features such as pews, stained-glass windows, and an organ remain. Elsewhere, the church includes a study to one side of the main hall, a recently fitted shower room to the back, and a porch giving exterior door access. The property currently has mains water, electricity, and private drainage.
Land, Parking, and Local Amenities
According to Galbraith, the sale includes the footprint of the building only. Keithhall Church borders amenity land with woodland and paths leading to the centre of Inverurie. The graveyard is owned and maintained by the local authority, and there are two parking spaces to the front of the building.
Keithhall Primary School is a short distance away, and secondary education is provided by Inverurie Academy. Nearby amenities include a health centre, a cottage hospital, shops, and a community centre, as well as opportunities for golf, swimming, and hill walking. Aberdeen is approximately 14 miles away, offering leisure and entertainment facilities, a mainline railway station, and an airport with domestic and international flights.
