The former Royal British Legion Club in Port Talbot is set to go under the hammer, with a guide price of £125,000-plus. The large brick-built property, located on Talbot Road near the Plaza Cinema, closed in 2025 after serving the community for 90 years.
Auction Details and Guide Price
The Royal British Legion (RBL) has issued a notice of proposed disposition for the site at 17–21 Talbot Road, Port Talbot, SA13 1HW. The disposal will be via a freehold sale at auction in the coming months. The guide price is listed as £125,000-plus, according to the notice.
The notice states: “The Royal British Legion (The RBL) gives notice that it proposes to dispose of land at 17 – 21 Talbot Road, Port Talbot, SA13 1HW held by it as trustee. It is proposed that the disposal will be by way of a freehold sale and that the property will be auctioned.”
Previous Transformation of Similar Property
The sale follows the transformation of another former Royal British Legion Club in the borough. In 2024, the previously dilapidated site on Eastland Road in Neath was turned into a “warm and inviting” Irish bar, demonstrating potential for redevelopment of such properties.
The Port Talbot club's future remains uncertain, but the auction presents an opportunity for developers or community groups to repurpose the historic building.
