Millions of people will receive State Pension and benefit payments early this week before the August bank holiday weekend, according to the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) and Social Security Scotland. Scheduled payments due on Monday, August 31, will be brought forward to Friday, August 28.
Which payments are affected
The early payment arrangement will apply to all major benefits including Universal Credit, Personal Independence Payment (PIP), Attendance Allowance, Carer’s Allowance, and Disability Living Allowance (DLA), to ensure money scheduled to arrive on the bank holiday reaches people on time.
DWP said: "To make sure people get their payment on a day when our offices are open, arrangements have been made to make some payments early. If the expected payment date is Monday 31 August, then benefits will be on Friday 28 August."

HMRC payments due on Monday, August 31 will also be issued on Friday, August 28. The affected payments are Child Benefit and Guardian’s Allowance.
Social Security Scotland arrangements
Social Security Scotland payments due on Monday, August 31 will be issued on Friday, August 28. Full details can be found on MYGOV.SCOT. Affected payments include Adult Disability Payment, Child Disability Payment, Scottish Child Payment, Carer Support Payment, Pension Age Disability Payment, and Scottish Adult Disability Living Allowance.
Social Security Scotland has confirmed Best Start Foods payments will not be affected. It is important to be aware that if your upcoming payment does not fall on the bank holiday, it will be issued as normal.
