Losing Bruno Guimaraes to Arsenal would be a massive blow for Newcastle United but the Magpies must sort his transfer exit in an efficient manner if he decides he wants to leave the club.
Nolan's warning on Newcastle's transfer shift
That is the view of former Newcastle captain Kevin Nolan who feels United's new transfer strategy this summer is 'dangerous' and reminds him of Chelsea's approach to the market.
Guimaraes has been linked with a move to the Premier League champions this summer and is believed to be keen on a move to North London.
But there has been no club to club contact over a transfer and Guimaraes is said to respect that if Newcastle's asking price is not met, he will be going nowhere after the club already sanctioned the exits of Sandro Tonali and Anthony Gordon.

And Nolan concedes it would be a massive blow for Newcastle, he believes the 28-year-old would be an excellent signing for the Gunners.
"It would be a massive blow for Newcastle," Nolan told talkSPORT. "I can't believe [they are talking about] £75-80million because I really rate this lad. You have seen last season when he is out of the Newcastle team how much they struggled."
"He was the one who has been the captain, the one who has drove them, who has took them sometimes on his back and made things happen. It will be a massive, massive signing for Mikel Arteta and Arsenal."
"I think he would be fantastic to link up with a Declan Rice and there is talk that [Martin] Odegaard could be going out of the door so to bring someone of his quality into what is already a Premier League winning side and Champions League finalists, will only make them a stronger and better outfit."
Newcastle's new recruitment approach
Former Newcastle midfielder Kevin Nolan Kieran Trippier is another experienced member of the Newcastle squad who has left the club this summer and, so far, the three players United have signed have all been aged 20 or under.
Goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen joined the club from Stade Reims, winger Bazoumana Toure made the move from Hoffenheim and teenage midfielder Sean Steur signed from Ajax.
And Nolan feels the drastic change in approach is akin to Chelsea's policy of signing younger players but feels it is 'dangerous' for Newcastle to be doing so in what is becoming a summer of transition on Tyneside.
"Of course it is," Nolan responded when asked if Newcastle's new transfer direction is 'dangerous'. "It seems they have gone down one way now because they tried it [with] established [players]."
"They got success but not success they would have been expecting or wanted. They got the first trophy under Eddie and I was there for that day and they were absolutely fantastic. Isak, Guimaraes, Dan Burn - all people that just stood up at that moment when they needed it and got over the line."
"They won a trophy and you think 'OK, now kick on'. But they haven't been able to because of FFP so have they looked at it - and there has been a lot of words said from outsiders about Eddie's job at the back end of the season but he has come out and said he has had real good discussions with the board."
"They must have come to this reasoning of this is how they are going to go and how they are going to move Newcastle forward in the next years and instead of getting instant success, they are going to work for their success."
"It is a bit similar to what Chelsea have done and it will be interesting. They lost Manzambi to Aston Villa a couple of weeks ago and he has gone to a team who are going to be playing Champions League football next year. Newcastle haven't got that so have they decided they are going to change tactics now?"
"Are they going to recruit youngsters? Recruit the best around Europe and hope that the can build something with Eddie because he has proven that he has taken from Bournemouth from where they were to the Premier League with a lot of the same players that he can coach and make players much better."
