Benefits due on a bank holiday or weekend are typically paid on the preceding working day. For example, if Personal Independence Payment (PIP) is due on Saturday 15th November, it will likely be paid on Friday 14th November. The exact payment day depends on when the claimant started receiving the benefit. Universal Credit is paid on the same day each month, while Attendance Allowance, Carer's Allowance, and Pension Credit are paid every four weeks from the first payment. State Pension and Maternity Allowance can be paid monthly or weekly, with the old state pension paid every four weeks based on National Insurance number.
Three winter benefit schemes reopen in November. The Winter Fuel Payment offers a one-off sum of £100 to £300 for eligible households, with most payments made in November or December 2025. Eligibility can be checked on the Gov.uk website, and most people receive it automatically.
The Cold Weather Payment runs from 1 November 2025 to 31 March 2026, providing £25 per eligible household when the temperature is forecast or recorded at zero degrees Celsius or below for seven consecutive days.
