Domino's is recruiting 5,000 new in-store team members and drivers across its 1,400+ stores in the UK and Ireland between now and Christmas. The recruitment drive comes as new research reveals nearly half of UK workers never planned the career they're in today, instead falling into it by chance or starting in what was intended to be a short-term job.
From Saturday job to assistant manager
Among those who turned a first job into a career is 19-year-old Lauren Disney, who joined her local Domino's in Tattershall, Lincolnshire, aged 16 for a Saturday job while studying for a BTEC in Business Management. After college, Lauren considered continuing her studies towards a degree but decided instead to build her career at Domino's. She is now an assistant store manager and has moved away from home to live independently.
Lauren said: “You can write a paragraph about how to be a great manager, but that doesn't mean you're going to be one. You gain that through experience, trusting your colleagues and building the culture around you.”

Her experience is reflected across Domino's, where nine in 10 store managers in the UK and Ireland started out as an in-store team member or driver. And where opportunities are available, around one in five seasonal employees (21%) stay with Domino's beyond their initial role.
Sarah Barron, Chief Commercial and Operating Officer at Domino's, said: “People join Domino's at different stages of their working lives. Some are looking for a first job or seasonal role, some want flexible work that fits around other commitments, and others are looking for a career change, a return to work or an opportunity to build practical business and leadership skills on the job.”
“Some stay for a few months, while others discover a longer-term career and progress through the business into management and senior roles. With 5,000 roles available between now and the lead up to Christmas, we want to give more people the opportunity to take that first step and see where it could lead.”
