Recipe developer and TikTok creator Amy Sheppard has shared a simple addition that can make homemade stuffing balls tastier and moister: chicken mince. The ingredient, mixed into a pre-made sage and onion stuffing mix, helps imitate the flavours of a roast dinner without hours of preparation.
How the Chicken Mince Trick Works
In a recent video, Sheppard explained that the combination offers “a roast dinner with all of the comfort and hardly any of the work.” She described the recipe as easy to prepare, noting, “Sage and onion stuffing mixed with chicken mince and then oven-baked, they could not be easier. You can even prep them ahead of time.”
The method involves making the stuffing as usual with boiling water, allowing it to cool, then thoroughly combining it with chicken mince. The mixture is seasoned with salt and pepper, rolled into balls, and baked until cooked through.
Recipe Details and Viewer Response
The recipe makes approximately 20 balls using 170g of sage and onion stuffing mix, 450ml of boiling water, and 500g of chicken mince. The balls are roasted in the oven at 200C fan for around 35 minutes, turning once.
Sheppard's video has been viewed over 270,700 times, receiving more than 11,100 likes and 149 comments. Viewers shared positive feedback, with one commenter, Dan, saying, “That’s it. I’m making those today!” Another, Kathryn, wrote, “I make these regularly after seeing you post them last year. They are a firm favourite in my house.”
