Ryan Reynolds walked the floor at San Diego Comic-Con on Sunday, dressed as Deadpool, taking photos with fans while marking the character's 10th anniversary. The actor, 49, first played the role in the eponymous 2016 film.
Reynolds shared a video on Instagram showing his Deadpool costume laid out on a hotel room bed. He was later seen in costume strolling through the main floor of the San Diego Convention Centre, posing for photos with fans who were unaware it was him underneath the mask.

In the caption, Reynolds wrote: “The fans got Deadpool off the ground so many years ago. “Yesterday, 10 years after the first film and exactly 2 years after Deadpool & Wolverine, I felt so lucky to be on the #SDCC floor with everyone whose unapologetic devotion brings so much joy to this world. “No handlers, no security, no ropes. WHAT A GIFT. “Thanks to everyone I met, who aren’t only cosplaying but world-building. And also… actual Sergeant Slaughter!”
Avengers: Doomsday pitch
Later, Reynolds asked for a role in the upcoming film Avengers: Doomsday while appearing from the crowd. He said: “This seems an awfully expensive way to announce a film. When do you start filming?” Robert Downey Jr, who stars as Doctor Doom, replied: “It’s in the can bro, look around you, did you bump your head?”
Despite Deadpool not being listed for the film, rumours have circulated that Reynolds' character may appear. The trailer for Avengers: Doomsday was released on Monday July 20, showing Downey Jr as Doctor Doom after playing Iron Man in ten previous Marvel Cinematic Universe films.

The film is a sequel to 2019’s Avengers: Endgame and is the 39th movie in the MCU. Reynolds has appeared as Deadpool in three feature films, most recently Deadpool & Wolverine in 2024.
