Tesco recalls Rubicon Yuzu drink over sulphites risk

Shoppers are being urged not to drink a Rubicon juice product sold at Tesco and other UK stores after it was recalled over a possible health risk. AG Barr is recalling Rubicon Yuzu & Pink Grapefruit Cartons because they may contain undeclared sulphites that are not listed on the label, which could pose a danger to anyone sensitive to sulphur dioxide or sulphites.

Recall Details and Affected Batches

The recall covers Rubicon Yuzu & Pink Grapefruit cartons in 1L pack sizes. The Best Before dates affected are June 2027, July 2027, August 2027 and September 2027, with batch codes 6160, 6198, 6219 and 6257.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) issued the alert, stating that AG Barr has been advised to contact relevant allergy support organisations to inform their members about the recall. Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores selling the product, explaining why it is being recalled and what customers should do if they have bought it.

What Shoppers Should Do

Anyone who has purchased the affected product and has a sensitivity to sulphur dioxide or sulphites is advised not to consume it and instead return it to the store where it was bought for a full refund. For further information, customers can contact consumercare@agbarr.co.uk.

In its warning notice, Tesco confirmed that no other products sold at the store are affected by this recall. Customers who purchased the affected product are asked not to drink it and to return it to any Tesco store for a full refund, with no receipt required.

Other Recent Recalls

This recall follows other recent product warnings. PepsiCo is recalling Walkers Variety Snacks Sharing Box, which contains six packets, because the Monster Munch Giants Roast Beef 85g pack includes wheat (gluten) not declared on the outer packaging, posing a risk to those with wheat or gluten allergies or coeliac disease. Additionally, Full On Flapjacks issued a recall for five of its products due to undeclared allergens, which could cause illness or require medical treatment if ingested unknowingly.
