Tesco has issued a warning to Clubcard customers to take action before the end of August or risk losing out, as millions of pounds worth of vouchers are due to become invalid.
Shoppers are urged to check when their Clubcard vouchers expire before August 31. Clubcard vouchers are issued every three months — in February, May, August and November — as a reward for purchases on groceries, clothing, fuel and other items. They remain valid for two years from the date they're issued, meaning vouchers sent in August 2024 are due to expire at the end of this month.
Vouchers worthless after deadline
These vouchers will become completely worthless after 11.59pm on August 31 unless they're redeemed. Clubcard vouchers can be used for discounts at restaurant partners, money off days out across the UK, a railcard, or accommodation bookings.
According to Tesco's 2025 figures, more than 24 million UK households have a Clubcard. The supermarket also reported that around 84% of its UK sales were made by customers using a Clubcard.
How to extend voucher validity
Customers who aren't ready to use their vouchers may have another option to prolong their validity: the 50p trick. For instance, spending 50p from a £5 voucher could leave £4.50 to be reissued as a new voucher with a fresh two-year expiry date.
Shoppers can rack up Clubcard points by spending on food, clothing and fuel, as well as through Tesco Bank and Tesco Mobile. The benefits of the scheme include Clubcard Prices, points on eligible purchases, and personalised offers based on shopping habits.
