Ryanair passengers are raving over a method shared to dodge 'awful' seats for nothing. The technique was shared by Jordon Cox, better known as The Coupon King.
How the trick works
Jordon said: "Never sit in the middle seat again with this easy trick. There is a way to avoid those awful middle seats on Ryanair without paying for it."
He suggests attempting the trick on the day of departure, roughly five to six hours prior to take-off. He said: "First of all, have a look at the seat selection and find all the seats you don't want to sit in. Then open a separate tab and create a new booking on the flight that you're on."
Freezing unwanted seats
Travellers are then instructed to input a 'bogus' name into all the remaining middle seats. "These seats are then frozen for a few minutes while they're in someone else's basket," he added. The undesirable seats should therefore become temporarily unavailable while they sit in the incomplete booking.
Jordon explained: "So head back to your actual booking, select random seat selection and boom. You've avoided the middle seat for free." He suggested travellers might need to add more than 10 dummy passengers if several undesirable seats are still up for grabs.
Reaction and savings
Jordon wrote in the caption: "Hopefully the only ones left are the aisle and the window." The bargain-hunting expert reckoned the clever workaround could save passengers £20 per seat.
One commenter on social media said: "Never thought of that idea. I love it." Meanwhile, another person posted: "Ooooo super cheeky and I love it!" A third chimed in: "Middle seats are the worst omg this is gold."
