Mum saves on Florida hotel using Tesco Clubcard points

A mum-of-two has revealed how she used her Tesco Clubcard points, earned from her weekly food shop, to book a free hotel stay in Florida. Narin Flanders, a shopping expert, saves her points throughout the year for family trips and days out.

How the Clubcard points work

Tesco customers earn one point for every £1 spent on groceries, both in-store and online. These points can be redeemed with over 200 reward partners, where their value doubles or triples. Popular partners include Hotels.com, Eurocamp, Butlin's, and easyJet Holidays.

Narin explained that she used to use her points to reduce her shopping bill, but after reading advice from money-saving expert Martin Lewis, she began saving them for experiences. She said: “I read some Martin Lewis advice on using Clubcard points for days out and over the last few years that's been what I've done.”

Free hotel stay and more

Last year, Narin used double points to book a night at the Hard Rock Hotel attached to Universal Studios in Florida. The stay for her family of four was completely free, and they also enjoyed early access to the rides on both days. She added: “Not only did we stay as a family of four completely free for a night but we got early access on both days either side of the stay so we could enjoy the rides before the big crowds joined, which was amazing and saved us so much time in queueing.”

More recently, she used her Clubcard points to book a free LeShuttle trip for four to France with the car for October half term, which would normally have cost over £200.

How to redeem points

Shoppers can turn points into vouchers through the Tesco Clubcard app or online. They need at least 150 points to request a voucher, and points collection periods are quarterly, ending in May, August, November, and February. Vouchers cannot be requested for two weeks before the end of each period.

Narin praised the scheme, saying: “I love using my Clubcard points for family events we would think twice or worry about justifying spending money on normally. When I'm doing my shop anyway it's a no-brainer - and the ultimate treat!”
