M&S recalls Hand Painted Jug over injury risk

Marks and Spencer has issued a product recall notice for its Hand Painted Jug, urging customers to stop using it immediately. The jug poses a risk of injury as the glass may break during use. The item has been withdrawn from the market and removed from shelves.

Details of the recalled jug

The jug is described as a blue-tinted glass jug with painted leaf decorations, made in China. It has the model number T34/9829D. The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) has issued a recall alert, stating: "The product presents a risk of injuries as the glass may break during use, leading to injuries. The product does not meet the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulations 2005."

The OPSS added: "The product has been withdrawn from the market and recalled from end users by Marks & Spencer. Consumers should stop using the product immediately and return it to any Marks & Spencer’s store for a full refund. For more information, please access the M&S website or contact 0333 014 8434."

M&S statement and refund information

Marks and Spencer said: "We have identified a potential safety issue with this product as there is a risk of glass breakage resulting in injury. We recommend that you stop using this product immediately. The product is no longer available for sale. Please return this product to any M&S store (excl. Outlets or Franchise stores) for a full refund. We are sorry for any inconvenience caused."

The £18 jug has been on sale in the UK and Ireland since February 28, 2026.

Asda also recalls a children's toy

Asda has also issued a recall notice for the Hapello Power Train children's toy due to a choking hazard. The toy contains "easily-detachable small parts" that could be dangerous to young children. Customers are urged to return it to the supermarket for a full refund.

Asda said: "We are very sorry for any inconvenience caused. If you would like any further information, please contact: Asda Customer Relations – 0330 053 0111." The toy was sold between August 2024 and February 2026 and is described as a "multicoloured battery power train toy" with barcode number 5063089308547.
