A total of 24 energy suppliers will give their customers £150 off their bills this winter, but only to those who qualify for the discount. The Warm Home Discount Scheme is a one-off £150 discount off your electricity bill.
If you’re eligible, your supplier will apply the discount to your bill. The money is not paid to you directly. You’ll usually get the discount automatically if you’re eligible.
Who qualifies for the discount
You will qualify for the money off if you meet the criteria, such as you or your partner receiving certain means-tested benefits. Your name must also be on the electricity bill on August 23, 2026. Earlier this month, ChronicleLive reported how householders were asked to make sure they were named on their energy bill by August 23.
The qualifying means-tested benefits are Universal Credit, Housing Benefit, income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) and Pension Credit. You can still qualify for the discount if you use a pre-pay or pay-as-you-go electricity meter. Your electricity supplier can tell you how you’ll get the discount, for example a voucher you can use to top up your meter.
