Meghan's 'Trump Card' Over King Charles Is Embarrassing, Not Triumphant
Meghan's 'Trump Card' Over King Charles Is Embarrassing

Claims that Meghan Markle holds a "trump card" over King Charles based on website traffic are misplaced, with the Duchess of Sussex's lifestyle brand As Ever recording 126,655 visits in July 2026—its lowest monthly figure of the year—while the monarch's Highgrove shop drew 48,326 visits in the same period.

Traffic Figures Compared

Data from Similarweb, cited by Newsweek, shows As Ever's six-month average was 176,677 visits, while Highgrove's six-month average stood at 56,574. This means the King's site received nearly 40% of the views Meghan's got.

Promotional Efforts and Outcomes

Meghan has invested heavily in promoting her brand. She visited Australia with Prince Harry earlier this year, a market speculated to be lucrative for As Ever, and the brand is believed to have registered trademarks in 12 product categories in Australia in 2025. Her Netflix show has also featured her products, and she has gifted items to celebrities like Kris Jenner, Mindy Kaling, Chrissy Teigen, and Tracy Robbins in an apparent bid to make offerings go viral.

Given this promotional push, one might expect far more visitors to her website. The King, by contrast, has done none of this for his shop. He has not prepared food on a Netflix show or engaged in similar publicity, instead focusing on his duties as head of state and head of the Commonwealth.

Embarrassing Comparison

Despite Meghan's efforts, her July traffic was the lowest of 2026, and the comparison with Highgrove—which has not benefited from such promotion—makes the figures embarrassing rather than a triumph. The King's shop is performing relatively well under the circumstances.
