Lloyds Bank to close 17 UK branches in November

Lloyds Banking Group is set to close 17 more branches in November as part of its wider network reduction strategy, with the move affecting both Lloyds Bank and Halifax locations.

The group, which also owns Bank of Scotland, has announced plans to close more than 240 branches between May 2026 and March 2027. In November, nine Lloyds Bank sites and eight Halifax branches are due to shut their doors, continuing a shift away from face-to-face banking as customers increasingly use digital and mobile services.

Closures follow October reductions

The November closures follow the shutdown of 23 branches in October, including sites in Birmingham, Nottingham and Southampton, along with three additional Halifax branches. Over the summer, a further 95 outlets were withdrawn from the high street network.

Even after these closures take effect, customers will still be able to carry out face-to-face banking through other brands within the group, including Halifax and Bank of Scotland. Essential services such as cash withdrawals, cash deposits and cheque payments will continue to be available at these locations.

Community Bankers and banking hubs

Lloyds Banking Group said on its website: "When making changes to our branch network, we always look to understand the impact on our customers – including how they continue to access banking services."

The group added: "Because of this, we may sometimes have a Community Banker visit the area after the branch closes. Or as part of an independent review a Banking Hub or Deposit Service may be set up in a nearby location."

Customers will also be able to use dedicated banking hubs, shared facilities where staff from different banks provide services on designated days. These hubs offer everyday transactions such as cash withdrawals, cash deposits and bill payments. By February, more than 200 banking hubs were operating across the UK, helping to maintain access to in-person banking as traditional branches continue to close.
