The British Geological Survey recorded a minor earthquake near Bettws in Newport at the weekend. The tremor took place at 2.51pm on Saturday.
It was measured at 1.3 on the local magnitude scale, and occurred at a depth of around six kilometres, according to the survey, which monitors seismic activity across the UK.

The survey says that earthquakes below 2.0 on the seismic magnitude scale may not be felt at all.
