Coatbridge and Bellshill MP Frank McNally has pledged to raise concerns over the anti-social use of e-bikes and quad bikes following discussions with residents during one of his recent street surgeries.
The Labour politician has been carrying out street surgeries across the constituency this summer, speaking directly with residents on their doorsteps about the issues affecting them and their communities.
During a recent street surgery, residents raised concerns about the anti-social and potentially dangerous use of e-bikes and quad bikes in the local area.
MP's response
Mr McNally said he would now raise the concerns with the relevant local councillors, as well as discussing the issue with Police Scotland locally.
The MP said: "Getting out into our communities and speaking directly to residents is an important part of my job.
"These street surgeries give people the opportunity to raise the issues that are affecting them where they live.
"One issue raised with me recently was the anti-social use of e-bikes and quad bikes.
"Residents are understandably concerned when these vehicles are being ridden irresponsibly, particularly in residential areas and places used by pedestrians and families.
"There are legitimate and responsible uses of e-bikes and other vehicles, but nobody should have to put up with behaviour that causes fear, disruption or puts other people at risk.
Next steps
"I'll be raising the concerns residents have brought to me with the councillors the areas involved and will also be speaking with Police Scotland locally to ensure they are aware of the issues being reported.
"My street surgeries are about listening to local people and, wherever possible, making sure their concerns are taken to the people and organisations who can help address them."
