Kosta Nedeljkovic is expected to join Rangers on loan, according to a report. The Aston Villa right back will pen a season-long loan deal at Ibrox, which will include a £4million obligation to buy.
However, that will only come into play if Nedeljkovic makes a certain number of appearances for the Light Blues, according to the Athletic.
Background and Career So Far
The 20-year-old made the move to Villa from Red Star Belgrade in January 2024. However, he's managed only 10 appearances under Unai Emery, spending the last year-and-a-half on loan at RB Leipzig.
Derek McInnes wants a different option at right back, with Ross McCrorie's performances not setting the heather on fire since his return to the club. He and Dujon Sterling, who has been needed to fill in at centre back and left back in recent games, are more defensively minded than Nedeljkovic.
Attacking Full Back Approach
James Penrice's arrival from AEK Athens on the other side of the back four has already shown the effectiveness of a more attacking approach at full back and it's hoped this can be replicated on the right with Nedeljkovic.
He will become the second Serbian signing of the summer under McInnes. Midfielder Vanja Dragojevic, who netted his first Gers goal in the weekend Premier Sports Cup win over St Mirren, arrived from Red Star's bitter city rivals Partizan earlier this summer in a £4.3million deal.
