Busy summer and travel guidance
July was the second busiest travel month ever recorded by the airport, with more than 3.3 million passengers using the hub, and August is expected to follow that trend. Antalya in Turkey and Palma in Majorca have been the most popular destinations.
Passengers have been urged to arrive at least two hours before a scheduled flight, or three hours for long-haul flights, to allow time for check-in and security. Extra bag checks can cause hold-ups, and banned items in hand baggage include liquids greater than 100ml, multi-tools and large squishy toys. Lithium batteries are banned from hold luggage.
