Jet2 cancels all Manchester flights to La Palma from October 30
Jet2 cancels Manchester-La Palma flights from October 30

Jet2 has confirmed it is withdrawing its flights from Manchester Airport to La Palma in the Canary Islands, with the final service scheduled to operate on October 30. The decision will affect holidaymakers who booked trips to the island from Manchester, a popular departure point for Scottish travellers due to its wider range of international flights.

Route launched in April now withdrawn

Jet2 had launched the Manchester to La Palma service in April, with flights operating twice a week on Mondays and Fridays. However, the airline has now confirmed the route will be withdrawn, alongside plans to introduce a new service from London Stansted. The Stansted route will no longer launch, meaning both planned connections to La Palma have been affected.

The changes apply specifically to La Palma and do not mean Jet2 is withdrawing its wider range of flights to Spain or the Canary Islands.

Airline cites operational reasons

A Jet2 spokesperson told travel publication Tourineus that the decision followed a review of its flying programme, which takes into account demand and customer preferences. The airline cited "unavoidable operational reasons" when responding to a customer about the route changes, but did not provide further details about the circumstances behind the decision.

Refunds and alternatives offered

Jet2 has apologised to customers affected by the cancellations and confirmed that alternative arrangements will be available. Those with existing bookings are being offered the choice of an alternative holiday or a full refund. Customers who booked a package holiday through Jet2holidays should receive information about their options from the company. Anyone who arranged their trip through a travel agent should contact them directly for guidance on the next steps.

Passengers are being advised to check their booking details and any correspondence from Jet2 before making alternative travel arrangements. Holidaymakers who booked accommodation, transfers or car hire separately should also check the cancellation policies for those reservations, as they may not automatically be covered by the airline's arrangements.

The withdrawal comes after Jet2 announced its plans for La Palma in June 2025, when the airline revealed the island would become a new destination for its summer 2026 programme. For Scottish travellers who had planned to fly from Manchester, the cancellation means checking whether another departure airport or destination would be a suitable alternative. Those affected should confirm their refund or replacement holiday arrangements before booking anything new, particularly if they have already paid for other parts of their trip.
