UK weather maps show temperatures are expected to plummet to near freezing at the beginning of next month, with many Brits facing a cold snap. The WXCharts maps, using GFS data, have turned a frosty blue shade as parts of the UK will fall to just 2C.
The maps show that temperatures will drop on Sunday, November 1, with the coldest area expected to drop to 1C.
Coldest Spots in Scotland and Northern England
This will be in inland Scotland and the Scottish Highlands, whereas other parts of southern and western coastal Scotland will remain slightly milder at around 3C. The map also shows part of England to be chilly, with parts of Cumbria and the North East expected to be 2C at 6am.
As the day continues the overall pattern remains similar, with Scotland cooler than England. However, at 12pm, the cool temperatures do slightly spread down England with parts of Manchester and Lancashire expected to sit at around 2/3C.
In the south, the lower temperatures are forecast to be 7C, which will still feel crisp. By 6pm, most of the temperatures across the UK will slightly increase however parts of the North West will remain at about 3C.
Risks of Icy Patches and Continued Cold
Throughout the day many areas are at risk of icy patches, including elevated inland locations in northern England and Scotland.
The mild conditions are expected to continue the following day, with overnight feeling fresh across the nation, with even much of the south dropping to 4C. On Monday morning at 6am, the maps turn a light bluey shade all over, forecasting cool conditions nationwide.
Areas in the south and midlands will also drop to 3C, with large part of Wales only reaching 4C. London is expected to be slightly warmer but will still feel very cold at 6C.
Midday Forecasts and Met Office Outlook
By midday these temperatures are not expected to increase, with many areas plummeting to cooler conditions. Areas surrounding Greater Manchester are likely to drop to 2C, according to the maps, with most of the midlands including Birmingham expected to drop to 3C.
In London, a sharp coolness will also strike, as the forecaster predicts temperatures to fall to 6C. Parts of the south coast will also decrease to around 3C.
The Met Office's long range forecast for this period predicts 'chilly nights'. The forecast for October 26 to November 4 says: "Likely turning drier and calmer across the south and east bringing a greater chance of chilly nights and morning fog patches."
A similar pattern then likely continuing during early November though with a chance that settled conditions may develop more widely for a time. Temperatures varying around average.
