Dyson's new hushjet mini cool is a portable fan that can be worn around the neck. Tech expert Alastair Jennings tested it during the UK heatwave. He compared it to rivals from Shark, Sony, and John Lewis.

Jennings tested the fan's cooling ability, portability, and extra features. He noted that "Dyson is a company known for innovation, and its hushjet mini cool is a standout portable fan." The fan has five modes and app connectivity. Jennings added that "its power, despite its size, puts it in another league to its competitors."
The fan measures 38 x 38 x 180mm and weighs 0.21kg. It has a fan power of 40W, five speed modes, noise levels from 65.6 dB to 83.4 dB, and a charge time of 3 hours with up to 6 hours run time. The rotating head enables direct airflow, and the neck lanyard provides a gentle cooling breeze.
Criticism and Verdict
Jennings gave the fan four stars. He praised its high build quality, excellent power, and rotating head. However, he noted that it is loud at full power, has limited features, and is expensive at £99. "While the noise at full blast could draw attention in public, it’s an impressive, highly portable device with cooling power," he wrote.
One criticism: the air intake at the base sometimes gets covered by the hand. The fan also comes with a charging dock that caps speed at the lowest setting, and a carry case. The app connectivity was found to be less innovative than the direct controls.
