While Valve continues to keep gamers in the dark on the exact release date for the Steam Machine, all signs are pointing towards news coming incredibly soon. A new development has seen Valve take a huge shipment of what appears to be the upcoming Steam Frame VR headset, indicating that the Steam Machine might not be far behind. As spotted by VR specialist Brad Lynch, Valve took receipt of over 30 tonnes of ‘Virtual Reality Devices’ on June 10, 2026. Although the Steam Frame isn’t specifically mentioned in the manifest, the shipments are thought to be related to the brand new VR device Valve is hoping to ship before the end of summer.

What’s more, a post from Steam Hardware Updates on X appears to show that review units of both the Steam Frame and Steam Machine are now out in the wild. “I’ve gone through multiple people about this info, done multiple checks for AI, and I can confirm the full images are not AI. This info should all be 100% and I will update if I hear anything else,” the writer stated.

According to the post, we can now likely expect Valve to announce pre-order reservations and a price announcement somewhere between June 22 and June 30. This lines up with our reporting from last week with Canadian FCC filings seemingly showing that a manual for the Steam Machine will become available on June 29.

Both the Steam Machine and Steam Frame were supposed to launch in the first half of 2026. However, the ongoing crisis affecting the price and availability of computer hardware parts has forced Valve to push the release date back significantly. The last we heard from Valve was that it’s targeting a ‘Summer 2026’ release date, although pricing still hasn’t been announced on either device. The Steam Controller launched separately back in May for a price of £85 here in the UK.

In terms of pricing, Valve previously stated that the Steam Machine would be competitive with modern consoles and equivalent to a custom-built PC of a similar spec. However, with console prices continuing to increase and the RAM crisis showing no real sign of slowing down, it’s anyone’s guess as to how much the thing will actually cost. Early estimates are between $1,300 and $1,500. However, last week I priced up a similarly specced PC that could be built for around £780 at today’s hardware prices.

As we near the end of June, all eyes are on Valve as we await official confirmation for the Steam Machine release date and price. We’ll report back when we know more.
