Thousands of social media users across the UK are reporting they cannot access their Facebook accounts this morning, July 19, 2026. The Meta-owned platform appears to have gone down, with users venting on other platforms about their frustration.
Downdetector Reports Thousands of Complaints
According to Downdetector, thousands of customers are reporting issues across the platform. As of 9am, the website had the most issues reported, with 62 per cent of complaints logged. Problems with logging in accounted for 22 per cent, while difficulty with the Feed and Timeline came in at eight per cent, indicating that even accessing accounts is the primary challenge.
Issues began being logged around 8.30am and climbed rapidly as the morning progressed.
Error Message and Affected Areas
When attempting to log in on a desktop, users see the message: 'Account Temporarily Unavailable. Your account is currently unavailable due to a site issue. We expect this to be resolved shortly. Please try again in a few minutes.'
Account holders throughout the UK are experiencing issues, with hotspots in Glasgow and London. Cities like Birmingham, Hull, and Brighton are also affected, while Scotland remains mostly clear.

Frustrated customers have taken to X to complain. One user posted: 'I'm getting this error message on Facebook in both Safari and Chrome on my laptop. Is anyone else experiencing the same issue?' Another complained: 'Facebook is down. At least in the UK,' while a third said: 'My Facebook is broken. I don't know if I've been banned, or if Facebook itself is down.'
