Comic Con Liverpool has banned certain items after privacy concerns. The biannual fan convention will return to the Exhibition Centre Liverpool from Saturday, October 10 to Sunday, October 11. Thousands of fans are expected to attend the huge event for a chance to meet their favourite stars.
Earlier this year, thousands of fans attended the star-studded May 2026 event, featuring celebrity meet and greets, Q&A panels and impressive cosplay. The X-Files star Gillian Anderson, Star Trek legend William Shatner and voice actor Cal Dodd were just some of the stars who fans were able to meet across the weekend.
Ban on wearable recording devices
Today, Thursday, July 23 the team has announced that Meta glasses and other wearable recording devices will be banned from the event. Writing on social media, they said: "After a consultation period we can no longer permit the wearing of any recording device at our events. The vast majority of the talent and agents at our events felt that these were a violation of their privacy and were damaging and spoiling the interactions at the tables. Several expressed concerns that they might not continue to attend in-person events if they were being recorded in secret."
"We had similar feedback from event attendees, many of whom are not comfortable with the knowledge that other convention goers might be filming them without consent. Anyone seen using one of these devices might be asked to leave the event and forfeit any unfulfilled autographs or photographs they had purchased. Please let’s make these events a safe space for everyone."
Star-studded lineup confirmed
Despite the next event being months away, the organisers have already confirmed 28 huge names on the bill. Some of the notable names who have been confirmed include Christopher Lloyd, the legendary Emmy-winning American actor best known for his iconic portrayals of Dr. Emmett "Doc" Brown in the Back to the Future trilogy, the spaced-out cabbie Jim Ignatowski on the sitcom Taxi, and Uncle Fester in The Addams Family.
Emilia Clarke, best known for her iconic role as Daenerys Targaryen (the 'Mother of Dragons') in HBO's global hit series Game of Thrones, has also been confirmed to attend as well as David Harbour, who is well known for his Emmy-nominated role as police chief Jim Hopper in the hit Netflix series Stranger Things. Fellow Game of Thrones star Kit Harrington will also be joining the bill. His breakthrough performance as the reluctant hero Jon Snow in Game of Thrones earned him international recognition, a Golden Globe nomination, and two Primetime Emmy Award nominations.
David Tennant will also be in attendance. He is best known for portraying the Tenth Doctor in the iconic sci-fi series Doctor Who. He is also celebrated for his acclaimed lead roles as DI Alec Hardy in the crime drama Broadchurch, Crowley in the fantasy series Good Omens, and Kilgrave in Jessica Jones. Also joining the bill is Catherine Tate who is well loved for her iconic BBC sketch comedy series, The Catherine Tate Show, and her role as Donna Noble, a beloved companion to the Tenth Doctor in Doctor Who. She also gained major international recognition for playing Nellie Bertram in the later seasons of the US version of The Office.
