The 2026 World Robot Conference in Beijing showcased a range of humanoid robots, from mixed martial arts fighters to mechanical dogs, highlighting the latest advances in robotics and artificial intelligence.
Humanoid robots take centre stage
Among the exhibits were robots designed for combat sports, with one humanoid robot demonstrating martial arts moves. Another robot, modelled on a dog, was presented as a potential companion or working animal.
The event, held in the Chinese capital, drew attention to the rapid development of humanoid robotics, with companies and research institutions displaying machines capable of walking, talking and interacting with people.
AI and robotics integration
Many of the robots on display were integrated with AI systems, allowing them to respond to commands and perform tasks autonomously. The conference also featured robots designed for industrial use, alongside those aimed at consumer markets.
Organisers said the event aimed to promote collaboration between robotics firms and researchers, and to showcase the potential of robots in everyday life.
