Motorola has announced its new Signature 27 smartphone, which features Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 processor. The device puts the company a step ahead of its Samsung Galaxy rivals, according to the firm.
Beneath its glass and aluminium shell, the Signature 27 is powered by what Motorola describes as the most powerful brain Qualcomm has ever created. The company is one of the very first to feature the chip, which is designed to handle demanding tasks, unlock smarter AI features, improve photography, enable console-style gaming and speed up downloads.
Camera and audio upgrades
The rear camera setup includes a 50MP Sony LYTIA 910 main sensor alongside a 200MP periscope telephoto camera. Motorola says the configuration will deliver sharp images with rich colours and deep contrast, while the powerful zoom should retain plenty of detail when subjects are pulled closer.
Video receives an AI-powered upgrade through Motorola's Video Enhancement Engine. The technology creates a real-time intelligence layer that analyses a scene before and during recording, automatically adjusting colour tones to improve the finished footage.
The Signature 27 is also Motorola's first smartphone to feature Audio by Bang & Olufsen, bringing the Danish audio specialist's expertise to its built-in speakers.
Design and availability
The handset features a premium aluminium design and the company's new ArcticMesh cooling system, which uses a redesigned 3D vapour chamber to keep temperatures under control during sustained AI use, gaming and video recording.
Price and full availability details are still to come, but Motorola has confirmed two finishes: PANTONE Coal Smoke and PANTONE Capulet Olive. The company said the Signature 27 is expected to come to markets worldwide in 2026, with more details to be shared closer to availability.
More Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 phones are expected to be unveiled in the months ahead, as other manufacturers look to make an impact with Qualcomm's latest silicon.
