Halo Campaign Evolved August Update Patch Notes Revealed

The latest Halo Campaign Evolved update is now available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, introducing visual customization options, PC performance improvements, and a host of bug fixes. The update size varies by platform: 12 GB on PS5, 8 GB on Xbox, 17 GB on Steam, and 29 GB on the Microsoft Store and Xbox PC app. Players must download and install the update to access new features and continue playing online co-op.

New Visual Settings and PC Upscaling Options

The August update adds the ability to turn Chromatic Aberration and Film Grain on or off individually, allowing players to adjust these visual effects to their preference. On PC, a new "None" setting under Upscaling Technique lets players disable upscaling and anti-aliasing completely, while the existing Native setting (100% render resolution) continues to use processing techniques for image reconstruction and other enhancements.

Additionally, a new in-game method to start an account unlink request has been introduced. Selecting this option opens the browser, prompts for account confirmation, and requires signing in to a Microsoft account.

Global Fixes and Improvements

The update addresses several gameplay issues, including more reliable staggering of Jackals when targeting their hands and feet, fixes for Sgt. Johnson in Boarding Action to prevent mission progression blocks, and corrections to the Assault Rifle's rate of fire and spread on Xbox and PC to match its intended performance on PlayStation 5. Marines and Flood Marines now fire their Assault Rifles correctly when the Magnified Skull is enabled, and Marines equipped with Battle Rifles fire as intended.

Active Camo behavior has been improved to reduce uncloaking when falling or walking over small bumps, and console players using mouse and keyboard will experience more consistent weapon firing. Reloading the Magnum immediately after firing now works correctly, and players can interrupt reload animations of the Fuel Rod Cannon, Rocket Launcher, or Needle Rifle by throwing grenades. Achievement progress is no longer awarded incorrectly with restricted Skulls or difficulty modifiers, and offline achievements are now granted after reconnecting to the Xbox network. Audio issues during the Keyes mission have been reduced, and Campaign Remix no longer crashes when Flood replace enemy groups. The account linking process has also been improved to avoid full title restarts.

Platform-Specific Updates

On PC, numerous stability and performance improvements have been made, including fixes for mouse and keyboard key bindings resetting after restart, adjusted Maximum Frame Rate options with VSync on high refresh rate displays, and improved stability with XeSS Frame Generation and frame rate limits. Loading co-op sessions is more stable, and all graphics quality options from Very Low to Ultra are now supported across all devices. AMD graphics cards now utilize Advanced Shader Delivery, reducing shader loading times and in-game hitching. Frame Generation automatically turns off during cinematics and back on during gameplay for improved performance.

On PlayStation 5, enemies and objects are less likely to skip frames or stutter in high-activity areas, and frame rates have been improved for smoother gameplay.
