God of War Laufey Release Date Set for February 2027, Next Game to Feature Kratos
God of War Laufey Out Feb 2027, Next Game Stars Kratos

The next God of War title, God of War Laufey, has been given a release date of February 16, 2027, exclusively on PlayStation 5. Announced at San Diego Comic-Con, the game stars Kratos's second wife, Faye (also known as Laufey), as the main playable character, with Kratos making multiple cameo appearances.

Spin-Off or Mainline?

Santa Monica Studio describes Laufey as a mainline entry, with the story directly following Ragnarök and set in the 'afterlife of the gods'. The game promises a more openly fantastical tone, featuring gods and monsters from multiple mythologies, including allies such as a talking sword and a gelatinous cube voiced by Jack Quaid.

Physical Release and Future Plans

Unlike later first-party titles, Laufey will receive a physical version, as Sony plans to stop releasing games on disc after next year. Regarding the next game, series overseer Cory Barlog confirmed it will star Kratos and continue directly from Laufey's events. While no release window was given, patterns suggest a possible launch in mid-to-late 2031, potentially as a PlayStation 6 title.
