Elder Scrolls 6 Gets First Tease in Years: 'It Looks Amazing' Says Xbox Boss
Elder Scrolls 6 Teased After Years: 'It Looks Amazing'

The head of Xbox Game Studios has offered the first tease of The Elder Scrolls 6 in years, confirming the game is progressing well, though a release date remains unannounced. Matt Booty, speaking to Variety, shared his excitement after visiting Bethesda and seeing the game in action.

Matt Booty's Comments on The Elder Scrolls 6

Booty described the balancing act of generating hype while managing fan expectations. 'I can tell you, having visited Bethesda and sat with Todd and seen “Elder Scrolls” playing, it looks amazing, and it’s coming along well. And we’ll make sure to announce it and really reveal it at the right time,' he said.

The tease comes over eight years after Bethesda first unveiled The Elder Scrolls 6 in 2018. Fans hoped for more at the recent Xbox Games Showcase, but the game was absent. Booty hinted that Bethesda's next RPG could appear in future shows, aligning with Xbox's strategy to reveal games only when they are close to release.

Xbox's Announcement Strategy

Booty noted that Xbox prefers to announce games that are 'coming soon,' as demonstrated by most titles at the showcase launching by end of 2026. Exceptions include Fable, delayed to February 2027 to avoid GTA 6. Bethesda boss Todd Howard also favors minimal time between announcement and release, though The Elder Scrolls 6's 2018 reveal was an outlier to reassure fans during the Fallout 76 and Starfield announcements.

Current Development Status

Most of Bethesda Softworks is now focused on The Elder Scrolls 6. While Booty's comments are promising, no release date has been set. Howard's preference for surprise launches suggests the game could arrive sooner than expected.
