Currys has announced the winners of its second annual Tech of the Year Awards, with Google Pixel, Samsung Galaxy and Sonos among the products recognised across 14 categories. The awards come as new research from Currys shows that seven in ten Brits admit struggling to keep up with how fast technology is changing, with 69% saying there is just too much choice.
Research highlights consumer confusion
The research also revealed that 24% have pretended to understand a tech term when they had no idea what it meant, while 28% have nodded along to an explanation despite being baffled. Meanwhile, 21% say they have opted for a more expensive product because they assumed it must be better, and 14% have bought something simply to get the decision over with.
To cut through the confusion, a panel of four experts, led by TV presenter and former Gadget Show host Ortis Deley, assessed the latest technology and innovations across 14 categories to find the best in computing, cooking, entertainment and wearable tech.
Judges' verdicts on the winners
Ortis Deley said: "There's more brilliant tech out there than ever before, but that doesn't necessarily make choosing what to buy any easier. When you're faced with endless models, features and specs, it can be difficult to separate what you really need from what simply sounds impressive. With the Currys Tech of the Year Awards, we've done the homework, assessed the latest innovations and picked out the tech that really delivers."

Category winners and standout features
Winners include Google Gemini as Best AI Assistant, Google Pixel's Voice Translate as Best Mobile AI Feature and AI Feature of the Year, Microsoft's Copilot+ PC as Best Computing AI Feature, Samsung's AI Motion Enhancer Pro as Best Entertainment AI Feature, and Samsung's AI Wash as Best Kitchen AI Feature. Meta's Hands-Free AI won Best Connected Home & Wearables AI Feature.
In the non-AI categories, Samsung Galaxy's Privacy Display won Best Mobile Feature and Feature of the Year, ASUS Zenbook DUO's Dual 14" 3K OLED Touchscreens won Best Computing Feature, LG's RGB Primary Color Pro won Best Entertainment Feature, Ninja's Creamify won Best Kitchen Feature, and Sonos Multi Room Audio won Best Connected Home & Wearables Feature. The Accessibility Award went to Neff's Slide&Hide Retractable Oven Door.
For those who need help with tech acronyms, AR stands for augmented reality, and OLED is organic light-emitting diode, the display technology used on TVs, smartphones and computers.
