Carlos Baleba played his first minutes in a Manchester United shirt during a behind-closed-doors friendly with Swiss side Lausanne on Friday.
The midfielder was a summer arrival from Brighton but had yet to appear for Michael Carrick's side due to an ankle injury sustained before his move to Old Trafford.
Return to Contention
The 22-year-old was in the squad for United's 1-1 draw with Fulham before the international break and was an unused substitute at Craven Cottage. He is now in contention to feature against Tottenham next weekend when United resume their Premier League campaign.
Friday's game with Lausanne - a sister club of United's - was an important marker in Baleba's return to fitness, with the Cameroon international having undergone a specific training programme over the past few weeks.
Senior Stars and Youngsters Involved
Baleba was far from the only senior player involved at Carrington, in a game United reportedly won 2-1, with those players absent from their national squads featuring. Harry Maguire and Matheus Cunha were involved, while a number of young players also saw game time, including Carrick's son Jacey, Amir Ibragimov, Yuel Helafu and Victor Musa. Diego Leon and Enzo Kana-Biyik were also given minutes.
The contest also gave United a first-hand opportunity to watch young prospect Sekou Kone, who is on loan at Lausanne, while the Swiss side also included former United defender Tyler Fredricson in their team.
