Social media star Bindi Raye, an Australian influencer with more than 80,000 Instagram followers, is not a real person. The Daily Star has confirmed that her content is generated by artificial intelligence, despite her audience's apparent belief that she is human.
The 20-year-old influencer has built her following by posting glamorous pictures of nights out, gym mirror selfies, and snaps in a high-visibility jacket while working an unspecified regular job. Thousands of positive comments and questions appear on each post.
Clues Reveal AI-Generated Content
The Daily Star's investigation uncovered several signs that Bindi is not real. Her face shape changes from picture to picture, and her skin has a glossy, unblemished appearance typical of AI-generated figures.
One image shows a poster containing jumbled letters and numbers that do not form part of any known language or script, a tell-tale sign of AI generation.
Account Owners Profit from Fake Influencer
A link to an adult subscription site, set up by the account's owners to generate revenue, includes small print stating that the account is "AI Generated".
Despite recent speculation in Australian media, the account's latest Instagram post reads: "One thing I’ve learned this week: don’t believe everything you hear". Comments remain full of users convinced the person is real, with one writing "Hi beautiful. Love the pictures and you" and another posting "damn gorgeous lady".
The Daily Star has approached the people behind the Bindi Raye account for comment.
