Son of Ballon d'Or winner Shevchenko signs for non-league Sholing
Shevchenko's son signs for non-league Sholing FC

Kristian Shevchenko, the 19-year-old son of former AC Milan and Chelsea striker Andriy Shevchenko, has signed for Sholing FC, who compete in the Southern League Premier Division South, the seventh tier of English football.

The club announced the signing on social media ahead of their FA Cup third-round qualifying match against Ebbsfleet United, where Kristian was named among the substitutes. Sholing, nicknamed the Boatmen, confirmed two new arrivals for their Saturday cup fixture.

A famous footballing lineage

Kristian is the son of Andriy Shevchenko, the legendary Ukraine international widely regarded as one of the finest strikers of his generation. The elder Shevchenko scored 175 goals in 322 appearances for AC Milan, winning Serie A, the Champions League and the 2004 Ballon d'Or.

His high-profile move to Chelsea under Jose Mourinho in 2006 proved difficult, with the forward scoring just nine goals in two Premier League seasons. Despite those struggles, he lifted the FA Cup and League Cup at Stamford Bridge and reached another Champions League final.

Academy journey and international career

Kristian, a right-sided forward, began his youth career at Chelsea before moving to Tottenham, where he played under former Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure. After only eight months with Spurs, he joined Watford and signed his first professional contract in 2025, but limited opportunities led him to drop down the divisions.

Born and raised in London, Kristian is eligible to represent England but has chosen to follow his father's path, earning caps for Ukraine at youth level and featuring at the Under-20 World Cup last year.
