Mouth of Tyne Festival Won't Show England vs Norway Match

The Mouth of the Tyne Festival in Tynemouth has confirmed it will not show England's World Cup quarter-final against Norway on Saturday night, leaving fans torn between music and football to seek alternative venues. The four-day festival, which runs from Thursday to Sunday, features headliners including The K's, Ministry of Sound Classical, Self Esteem, and James.

Clash of Events

England's match against Norway kicks off at 10pm BST on Saturday, coinciding with the festival's headline set by Self Esteem, who is scheduled to perform from 8pm. Support act Heidi Curtis starts at 7pm. The festival, set against the backdrop of Tynemouth Priory and Castle, attracts large crowds, many of whom are also football fans following England's progress after their victory over Mexico.

Festival's Decision

North Tyneside Council, the festival organiser, addressed the issue in a Facebook post about provisional set times. It stated: "We won't be showing the England game but there are LOTS of places nearby that will!" The post also noted that set times are subject to change and updates will be posted on the festival's page.

Options for Fans

Ticket-holders wishing to watch the match can head to local pubs and venues near the festival site. Self Esteem's set is expected to end before the match finishes, potentially allowing fans to catch both the concert and the game. Tickets for Saturday are still available via SeeTickets and Ticketmaster.
