Former Rangers winger Rabbi Matondo has joined Hibernian on their training camp in La Manga, as the club's new head coach Marink Reedijk takes charge of his inherited squad for the first time.
The Welsh international is a free agent after being released by Norwegian club Brann following a short stint there. He travelled with the Hibs squad to Spain, where Reedijk met his players for the first time before departing from Edinburgh Airport this morning.
Matondo's career path
The 26-year-old spent four years at Ibrox after being signed from Schalke by Giovanni van Bronckhorst. He struggled to secure a regular starting spot with Rangers and was loaned to Hannover 96 in January 2025.
Matondo made 70 appearances during his four years in Glasgow, scoring eight goals and providing 11 assists. He left Rangers in March to sign a short-term deal with Brann, but was released after just five months.
Wide options in short supply
Now he will train with Hibs over the next week as Reedijk gets to grips with the squad he has at his disposal. Wide options have been in short supply at Easter Road, with predecessor David Gray having preferred a 3-5-2 or 5-3-2 system.
