Man United Transfer Interest in Bayern Star Kim Min-jae

Kim Min-jae delivered a clear message to Manchester United with his performance at the World Cup amid fresh speculation about his future. United have previously been heavily linked with signing the South Korea international, with new updates emerging about the defender.

South Korea's World Cup Victory

In the early hours of Friday morning, South Korea faced Czechia in their opening Group A match at the World Cup, hosted across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The match took place at Estadio Akron in Zapopan, the second game of the tournament after co-hosts Mexico defeated South Africa 2-0 in the opener.

South Korea secured a 2-1 victory over Czechia, coming from behind after Wolves defender Ladislav Krejci scored the opening goal. Goals from Feyenoord star Hwang In-beom and Besiktas forward Oh Hyeon-gyu sealed the win.

Kim Min-jae's Performance

Kim played the full 90 minutes for South Korea, starring at centre-back and helping his country claim a vital three points to begin the World Cup with a victory. The 29-year-old's performance comes after fresh rumours that United have shown interest in signing the Bayern Munich defender.

According to German news outlet TZ, United have sent scouts to watch Kim in action for Bayern, with the defender attracting interest from several clubs across Europe. This is not the first time United have been linked with Kim; he was reportedly a target during his time at Napoli before moving to Bayern in 2023 after the Bundesliga giants triggered the €50 million (£43 million) release clause in his contract.

United's Transfer Window Activity

United have already made a busy start to the summer transfer window, agreeing a deal to sign Atalanta star Ederson. The Reds will pay an initial £35 million fee, with potential add-ons of £3.8 million, taking the total package to £38.8 million.

United have also shown interest in Nottingham Forest star Elliot Anderson, but it is understood they will now pursue other targets, with Manchester City being the England international's preferred destination.

What's Next for South Korea

South Korea's next match will see them face co-hosts Mexico in Zapopan on Thursday night, where Kim will hope to play a key role for his country once again.
