Manchester United have been advised that Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde would be the perfect summer signing, as they reportedly move on from Nottingham Forest's Elliot Anderson after a massive bid from Manchester City.
United's Midfield Search
United are expected to be active in the transfer market over the coming months, with several players already linked to Old Trafford. Manager Michael Carrick is focused on building a squad capable of competing in the Premier League and the Champions League following their return to Europe's elite competition.
The departure of Casemiro has left a void in midfield, and Nottingham Forest's Elliot Anderson was heavily linked with a move to United. However, Manchester City have emerged as frontrunners for the England international, having had a bid rejected that included a verbal offer of £106 million plus £15 million in add-ons.
United have already agreed a deal to sign Atalanta's Ederson for an initial £35 million plus £3.8 million in add-ons, but they are now expected to pursue other targets.
Valverde Endorsement
Former United striker Louis Saha has explained why Federico Valverde would be an ideal alternative to Anderson. "Man Utd need a balanced midfield," Saha told Compare.bet. "You already have Kobbie Mainoo, who is a top player and seems to grow with confidence, but I still think we need something a bit more experienced, a bit more aggressive, and with a bit more 'legs' that could represent that dominance in midfield."
Saha added: "Federico Valverde would be everything the club needs. For any team to challenge for the Premier League title, you need a top level centre midfielder. They need to be aggressive and show leadership at the same time to really dominate in that midfield. That experience can't be replaced by youth and talent."
Valverde, a key player for Real Madrid, is known for his energy, versatility, and tenacity. His potential arrival would provide the experience and aggression that Saha believes United require.
As the summer transfer window heats up, United fans will be eager to see which midfield reinforcements arrive at Old Trafford.
