Manchester United have identified Newcastle United left-back Lewis Hall as a potential summer target, with Fulham's Antonee Robinson also under consideration as the club looks to strengthen its defensive options. A new goalkeeper and a midfielder are also priorities for the Red Devils as they prepare for a return to the Champions League next season.
According to Sky Sports, Hall is admired by key figures within United's hierarchy and is a player they 'could look to act on if the opportunity arises.' The 21-year-old, overlooked for Thomas Tuchel's World Cup squad, is viewed as a long-term prospect, especially with Luke Shaw's contract expiring next year. Reports earlier this month suggested Hall had submitted a transfer request at Newcastle amid a falling-out with manager Eddie Howe, but sources indicate the pair ended the season on positive terms.
Robinson remains on United's radar and is expected to attract attention during the World Cup while representing host nation the United States. The impending appointment of a new manager at Fulham could cast doubt over the 28-year-old's six-year stint at Craven Cottage.
In addition to defensive reinforcements, United are pursuing a back-up goalkeeper, with Andre Onana returning from a loan spell at Trabzonspor not expected to challenge for the No. 1 jersey. Altay Bayindir is likely to leave, while returning goalkeeper Radek Vitek, who spent the season on loan at Bristol City, is also anticipated to depart. United continue to explore midfield options despite signing Atalanta's Ederson, with Mateus Fernandes of West Ham a potential target. However, the Hammers are seeking around £85m for the Portuguese midfielder, more than double the £42m they paid for him a year ago.
Nottingham Forest's Elliot Anderson also features highly on United's list, but a fee exceeding £120m would be required for Forest to entertain a sale. Manchester City have already had a second bid for Anderson turned down, reportedly £106m plus £15m in bonuses, but Forest are holding out for a package totalling up to £130m. Anderson has expressed a desire to join City, which could effectively rule United out of the running.
United have confirmed the exits of Casemiro, Jadon Sancho, and Tyrell Malacia, as well as academy prospects Sonny Aljofree, James Bailey, and Malachi Sharpe.
