Manchester United are bracing for a £43m bid from Galatasaray for captain Bruno Fernandes, while Barcelona remain in contact over a potential Marcus Rashford return, as Michael Carrick prepares for his first full season in charge.
Galatasaray prepare Fernandes bid
According to The Telegraph, Galatasaray are willing to double Fernandes' wages and put forward £43m for his services. The Turkish club see the Portuguese playmaker as a dream signing and are leaving no stone unturned in their pursuit to tempt him to Istanbul.
Despite the interest, multiple sources suggest United will swiftly reject any approach, considering their skipper entirely untouchable. His £55.6m release clause for foreign clubs expired in July.
BBC Sport makes clear that Galatasaray would be wasting their time, and they are not the only club likely to test United's resolve. Juventus and AC Milan have also been mentioned as possible contenders. Fernandes' current contract runs until 2027, with the option to extend by a further year.
Rashford U-turn on the cards
Rashford's future has dominated headlines this summer following his return to United after a loan spell at Barcelona. The 28-year-old showed glimpses of his best form in La Liga, yet the Catalan giants opted against making his move permanent for £26m, choosing instead to sign Anthony Gordon from Newcastle for £70m and Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund.
Rashford was left in a state of limbo, with suggestions he could be fully reintegrated into the Old Trafford setup. However, TEAMtalk reports that Barcelona remain in contact with Rashford's camp and, despite completing a string of attacking signings, are still weighing up their options and could yet attempt a sensational return.
United's summer business so far
United are eager to wrap up more deals ahead of their Premier League opener against Hull City this weekend. Carrick's squad is still in need of strengthening, a fact exposed during their crushing 4-2 defeat to AC Milan on Saturday, when his men were given a thorough lesson by predecessor Ruben Amorim.
Throughout the summer window, just three senior players have been brought through the door. Andrey Santos was signed from Chelsea for £50m, Karl Darlow arrived as a free agent after leaving Leeds United, and Youri Tielemans was recruited from Aston Villa after United activated his £35m release clause.
Rashford rejoined United's training setup on August 9 following his standout performances for England at the World Cup, and featured in the defeat to AC Milan.
