Harry Wilson's transfer to Leeds United may not be confirmed until next week, but there are currently no concerns over the Wales international completing his move to Elland Road. Wilson is believed to have agreed a four-year contract with United after running down his contract at Fulham, but no official announcement has been made yet.
Background on the Transfer
Leeds saw a move to land the 29-year-old winger fall through on deadline day 10 months ago, but there is no suggestion at this stage that this move is in any danger of collapse. Wilson turned down the chance of a new deal at Craven Cottage amid significant interest, but he still seems bound for Elland Road.
“Yeah it's done. It's agreed,” YEP chief football writer Graham Smyth told the Inside Elland Road podcast. “I don't expect an announcement until possibly even next week but nobody is in any way panicking about it or worrying about it. There's no nefarious reasons behind that. It's just a timing logistics, getting him in the building thing as far as I'm aware. But yeah, that one's done and agreed. And like we dealt with last week, a good signing, very good signing.”
Further Transfer Targets
Once the move is confirmed, Wilson is likely to feature in the club's upcoming tour of the USA, where they will face Wrexham, Sunderland and Liverpool. Whether Leeds have any other additions on board by then remains to be seen.
Leeds have also identified Southampton midfielder Shea Charles as a top transfer priority this summer. The Daily Mail recently reported the club had lodged a deal worth £23m in an attempt to prise him away from the Saints, who value the player at around £30m. Southampton also value fellow Leeds target Leo Scienza at around £25m.
Defensive Reinforcements
Southampton's failure to achieve promotion due to the Spygate scandal means they may have to lower their demands, with the Brazilian midfielder believed to be keen on a move to west Yorkshire. At the back, the £20m sale of Pascal Struijk to Brighton and Hove Albion means Leeds are likely to be in the market for a defender this summer. Lloyd Kelly has been linked, but £40m-rated Wolves star Ladislav Krejci is seen as a more natural successor.
