Thomas Tuchel has confirmed he will hand more minutes to those who need it when England face Costa Rica in their final warm-up game before the World Cup today. The match takes place at the Inter&Co Stadium in Orlando, Florida, on Wednesday, though a thunderstorm forecast near kick-off could cause delays.
Warm-Weather Training in Florida
The Three Lions have been conducting warm-weather and humidity training in Florida for over a week as they prepare for their World Cup opener against Croatia in Dallas on June 17. Their first warm-up match saw Harry Kane's goal secure a 1-0 win over New Zealand on Saturday, with Tuchel fielding a completely new XI in the second half.
Arsenal Quartet Available
The Arsenal quartet of Bukayo Saka, Eberechi Eze, Noni Madueke, and vice-captain Declan Rice were not involved in the New Zealand game after being given an extended rest following the Gunners' Champions League final. They joined the squad at the weekend and are all in contention to play against Costa Rica. Saka and Madueke are expected to feature.
Dean Henderson also joined the squad late, midway through last week, after Crystal Palace contested the Conference League final. With Jordan Pickford and James Trafford playing a half each against New Zealand, Henderson will hope for minutes in Orlando. Tuchel will again experiment while managing minutes in the punishing heat.
Youth Prospects
Rio Ngumoha, 17, won player of the match for his second-half display against New Zealand and made his international debut. Bournemouth's Alex Scott, Fulham's Josh King, and Arsenal's Ethan Nwaneri remain uncapped and will hope for debuts before departing when Tuchel's 26-man main squad flies to Kansas City on Saturday.
Predicted England XI vs Costa Rica
England predicted XI (4-2-3-1): D Henderson; James, Stones, Guehi, O'Reilly; Mainoo, J Henderson; Saka, Bellingham, Gordon; Kane.
